Point Firearm / Utter Threats – Arrest: C21-167130

On July 18, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m., West District patrol officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, K9, and AIR1, all responded to the report of a male armed with a gun at an establishment in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue.

A security guard attempted to remove a male patron who was causing a disturbance. The suspect subsequently punched the security guard in the face, then pointed a gun at his head and threatened to kill him. He fled on foot and discarded the gun while attempting to escape. Police located the suspect within the area where he was taken into custody, and the discarded gun was recovered. The victim, a 28-year-old male, declined medical treatment at the time.

The Major Crimes Unit followed up on the investigation and Hothaifa HASSAN, 20, of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Pointing a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Assault
- Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm

He was detained in custody.
