Homicide – Arrest: C21-171436

On July 25, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Homicide Unit arrested Jordan Julius IRVING, 29, of Winnipeg, for the murder of Tyler McKAY, 20, of Winnipeg.

On July 24, 2021, just before 2:00 a.m., IRVING and the deceased McKAY were amongst a group of people at a social gathering in the 400 block of Toronto Street. The two men became embroiled in a verbal argument outside of the residence, which escalated. IRVING subsequently stabbed McKAY and fled on foot.  

Jordan Julius IRVING was charged with Manslaughter and an unrelated Warrant for Failing to Appear in Court. He was detained in custody.


As previously released:

On July 24, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a male who had been assaulted in the 400 block of Toronto Street.

Police located an adult male who was seriously injured outside a residence. The 20-year-old victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Tyler McKAY of Winnipeg.
