Homicide Update – Arrest: C21-174884

On July 28, 2021, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an assault at the rear of a convenience store located 100 block of Salter Street. Responding officers located two injured males, a 17-year-old and a male in his 30’s. Both were transported to hospital for treatment, however, the 17-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The second male’s condition is listed as stable.
The victim has now been identified as Andy Joseph McKAY, 17, of Winnipeg.
Clayton MARCANO, 39, had been treated in hospital for injuries sustained during this incident. On July 30, he was charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.

Shooting – Public Assistance: C21-176729

On July 30, 2021, at 1:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a shooting that had just occurred at the Dakota Community Centre at 1188 Dakota Street. A 19-year-old male had been shot and was being taken to the hospital by civilian associates. He is currently in stable condition.
Two male youths were arrested at the time and face charges related to the incident.
1. Accused: Possess Weapon x 2, Carry Concealed Weapon, Aggravated Assault
2. Accused: Aggravated Assault
Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit are now requesting the public’s assistance in locating Carlin DARE, who is the subject of an arrest warrant regarding this incident.
Carlin DARE, 18 years, 6’1” in height, 220 lbs.

Dare is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached.
