August 6, 2021 Media Release

Homicide – Public Assistance: C21-176898

On August 3, 2021, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a media release on the murder of Tanner Daniel KERR, 31, which occurred on July 30, 2021, at a residence in the 400 block of Arlington Street.
 
Investigators from the Homicide Unit are now asking for the public’s assistance in locating a male wanted in connection with this homicide.
 
A warrant of arrest for Manslaughter has been issued for Eric Jade WIRFFEL, 36, of Winnipeg.

Point Firearm – Arrest: C21-75434

On June 25, 2021, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a media release asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects driving in the area of Logan Avenue and McPhillips on April 5, 2021. The driver stopped the vehicle and pointed a firearm directly at three youths who were walking by.

A suspect was identified in this incident, and the Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance.  
 
On August 5, 2021, an arrest warrant was executed at Headingly Correctional Centre; Bronson Emery KEQUAHTOOWAY, 27, of Winnipeg, who was already in custody, was charged with 12 firearm-related offences. He remained detained in custody.
 
This investigation is still ongoing by the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators in the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Drugs – Arrests: C21-181599

In late July 2021, investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit were alerted to drug trafficking activity at a residence in the 900 block of Minto Street. Officers obtained a CDSA Search Warrant on August 5.
 
A vehicle associated with the home was stopped, and the driver arrested. Officers located ½ kilogram of cocaine inside the vehicle as well as a quantity of cash.
 
The resident of the home was located inside and arrested. The search of the house located an additional three kilograms of cocaine, $42,000 in cash, Oxycodone pills and a handgun-styled pellet gun. The total value of seized items was $200,000.
 
Mark Peter PUJOL, 37, has been charged with:
 - Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
 - Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
 - Possess Scheduled Substance
 - Possess Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
 - Possess Weapon
 
Pujol was detained in custody.
 
The 37-year-old driver of the vehicle will be charged with:
 - Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
 - Possess Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
 
He was released on an Undertaking as dictated by the Criminal Code of Canada.
