Damage to Property – Arrest: C21-183489

On August 7, 2021, at 7:00 a.m., Winnipeg Police Traffic Units were facilitating the move of an oversized structure on Roblin Boulevard. A building moving company had obtained a permit for the dimensional load to be transported outside of the city.
Officers confirmed that the dimensions of the load were as specified in the permit, however, once the move onto Roblin Blvd. commenced, it became evident that the operator had not confirmed the accessibility of the route, as required in the permit.
Assigned officers determined that multiple trees along the move route had been deliberately felled or trimmed. An adult male associated with the move has been arrested and charged with Mischief Over $5,000, and the move temporarily halted.
City of Winnipeg Forestry officials have been called out to determine the least impactful measures to continue with the move.
