Weapon – Arrests: C21-183715

On August 7, 2021, at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers from the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit were investigating an incident in the area of Andrews Street and Dufferin Avenue when they observed a vehicle believed to be connected to the investigation. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle fled southbound over the Slaw Rebchuk Bridge.
 
With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, officers forced the vehicle to stop at Owena Street and Alexander Avenue. The driver and passenger were both removed from the vehicle and arrested, during which time a loaded, sawed-off shotgun was located.
 
Harry James RICHARD, 19, has been charged with the following offences:
 - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
 - Possess Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
 - Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
 - Possess Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
 
He was detained in custody.
 
The 31-year-old driver will be charged with the following offences:
 - Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
 - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
 - Possess Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
 - Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
