Robbery – Public Advisory: C21-213824

On September 13, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a robbery in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.
 
There were no injuries, however, a significant quantity of Methadone was stolen. The amount of Methadone poses a risk to the community in potential overdoes. The drug was in a litre-sized bottle.
 
Anyone with knowledge of this incident that could assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6222 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). If the bottle is located, please call 911. 

Stabbing – Arrest C21-212274

On September 11, 2021, at approximately 2:20 p.m., officers from the Winnipeg Police Service’s West District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to the report of a stabbing at a retail store in the 1000 block of Empress Street.

Investigators believe the accused and the victim, who were known to each other, became involved in an altercation in the washroom, where the 34-year-old male victim was stabbed. The accused fled on foot and was taken into custody outside the store.

Store employees provided life-saving first aid until emergency services arrived and transported the victim to hospital in unstable condition; he was later upgraded to stable condition.

Jamie Charles GRIEVES, 37, of Winnipeg, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was detained in custody.

Serious Assault – Public Assistance: C21-213100

On September 12, 2021, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assault that occurred to a passenger on a transit bus in the downtown area.

The bus managed to stop at Portage Avenue and Fort Street, where police located a female victim in her seventies. She was transported to hospital and treated for her injuries. Information provided to police indicated that a male suspect had attacked the victim and then exited the bus.

The Major Crimes Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male person of interest, as seen in the photos below.

Hate Graffitti - Public Assistance: C21-169123

On July 29, 2021, the Winnipeg Police Service released information regarding several businesses along Pembina Highway vandalized with hateful graffiti.

The investigation was turned over to Hate Crimes investigators in the Major Crimes Unit. As a result of this previous release, several other businesses made reports of similar acts of vandalism and provided additional images of a suspect.

The Major Crimes Unit is again requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this male suspect. Below are new images, as well as the previous images that were released.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information to assist investigators is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
