Robbery – Investigation: C21- 217606

On September 17, 2021, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s West District Patrol Officers responded to a robbery of three youths walking outside a community centre in the Charleswood neighbourhood.

 A group of unknown suspects in their late teens/twenties approached the youths demanding their property. One of the victims was assaulted during the robbery but did not request medical assistance. The group of suspects subsequently fled on foot, and the victims contacted the police.

This investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Unit. No arrests have been made at this time.

Robbery with Firearm – Investigation C21-217844

On September 18, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s East District Patrol Officers responded to the report of a robbery with a firearm in the area of Kildare Avenue and Wayota Street.

Two adult males and an adult female were walking along Kildare Avenue East when they were robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male who was also walking in the area. The suspect demanded their personal belongings and fled on foot. The victims made their way to a nearby gas bar and contacted police. Nobody was physically injured during this incident.

This investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Unit. No arrests have been made at this time.

Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C21-216808

Update:

On September 17, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Jessy Julio STOROSZCZUK, 28, of Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with:

- Aggravated Assault
- Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply Release Order.

He was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On September 17, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street for the report of a passenger aboard a Transit bus who had been assaulted by another passenger.

Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male on the bus who was injured and subsequently transported to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition. Investigators believe that two male passengers aboard the bus became involved in an altercation when the victim was assaulted with a weapon. The suspect then fled the area.

Carjacking – Arrests: C21-218405

On September 18, 2021, at 6:58 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a carjacking that had just occurred.

A male in his 20’s had been in his vehicle in the area of Burrows Avenue & Salter Street when he was robbed at knifepoint by two suspects. The victim was subsequently stabbed, and the suspects then fled in the stolen car. He suffered minor injuries and was later transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Soon after, the stolen vehicle struck a hydro pole in the area of Magnus Avenue & Charles Street and both suspects fled on foot. As a result of the collision, a fire started in the car which the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service later extinguished.

With the assistance of General Patrol, K9 and Tactical Support Team officers, two suspects were taken into custody – one in a backyard in the 300 block of Burrows Avenue and the other at a residence in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue. Personal property that had been stolen from the victim was also recovered.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

Matthew Leland Xavier Roulette, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Robbery
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon

A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Robbery

Both were detained in custody.
