Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C21-181712

On August 5, 2021, at 1:15 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of a male that had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured 32-year-old male and began to administer emergency first aid, including the application of a tourniquet. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

The Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and identified a male suspect.

It is believed that the victim and suspect, who were previously unknown to each other, were part of two small groups involved in a verbal confrontation before the shooting. The victim suffered extensive injuries as a result of the incident.

On October 8, 2021, detectives attended the Headingley Correctional Centre and placed the suspect under arrest.

Harry James Richard, a 19-year-old male, has been charged with:

- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Discharge a Firearm with Intent
- Pointing a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

He was detained in custody.

Robbery with Firearm – Public Assistance Requested: C21-226551

Members of the Major Crimes Unit are releasing surveillance images of two persons of interest for an armed robbery and are asking the public for help with identifying them.

On September 27, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a restaurant in the 600 block of Sargent Avenue was robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect. The investigation has determined that the male had previously been in the establishment with a female.
