On October 4, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a female who had been assaulted in the 400 block of Webb Place.
A male suspect had kicked a 97-year-old female victim in the upper body in an unprovoked manner, causing injuries. The victim and the suspect were previously unknown to one another.
The victim was transported to hospital, where she received medical treatment for her injuries.
The Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and identified a male suspect.
On October 12, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Central District Community Support Unit members actively searched for and located the suspect at an address in the 300 block of Agnes Street.
Rudy Wayne ELLIOTT, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
He was detained in custody.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a pair of carjacking incidents that occurred during the early morning of October 12, 2021.
At approximately 6:15 a.m., an adult male was parked in the 400 block of Hartford Avenue when a male suspect approached and confronted him with a weapon. The suspect subsequently fled the area in the stolen vehicle. The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., an adult female was parked in the 1400 block of Fife Street when she was pulled from the vehicle by a male suspect. Soon after, two additional male suspects entered the vehicle and, while doing so, pointed a weapon at her. The three subsequently fled the area in the stolen vehicle. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related.
