Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C21-244091

On October 18, 2021, West District General Patrol officers responded to the report of a commercial robbery at a bank in the 2700 block of Pembina Highway.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., a female entered the bank and approached the front counter. She uttered a threat to the teller and demanded money. The employee turned over the money to the suspect, who then left the bank. Nobody was physically injured.

The police were immediately contacted, and the suspect was quickly taken into custody at a residence in St. Norbert. The money was recovered upon her arrest, and the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.

Shirley Lorraine JOHNSON, 49, of Winnipeg, was charged with Robbery and Uttering Threats Cause Death or Bodily Harm. She was detained in custody.

Firearms & Drugs – Arrest: C21-244440

On October 18, 2021, officers in the North District Community Support Unit entered into a firearms and drugs investigation. With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 400 block of College Avenue.

Two adults were taken into custody, and the following items were seized:

- a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun
- a sawed-off 12- gauge shotgun
- various rounds of compatible ammunition
- 495 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value $49,500)
- drug packaging and paraphernalia

A 29-year-old male and a 35-year-old female of Winnipeg are facing the following charges:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition x 2

Both have been released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
