Robbery with a Firearm – Arrest: C21-263363

On November 9, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m., General Patrol Officers were flagged down near Maryland Street and Notre Dame Avenue by an adult male who indicated he had just been robbed at gunpoint by two unknown individuals.

The victim, in his twenties, reported walking along Maryland Street with his clean laundry in a rolling duffle bag when two suspects confronted him at gunpoint. They demanded all of his personal property, including the jacket he was wearing, then fled on foot.

Officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, searched the area and located a male matching the suspect’s description and pulling a rolling duffle bag. He was taken into custody.
 
While in police custody, the accused uttered threats and spit on an officer.

Curtis Lee SEVERIGHT, 28, of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Armed Robbery using a Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
- Assault a Peace Officer

He was detained in custody.

Firearm/Stolen Vehicle – Arrest: C21-263400

On November 9, 2021, at approximately 6:15 p.m., General Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop near Cumberland Avenue and Kennedy Street on a vehicle violating the Highway Traffic Act and listed as stolen.

An adult male, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded improvised firing device (zip-gun) and a prohibited form of bear spray.

Charles Roger KNOTT, 28 of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Unauthorized
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 3

He was detained in custody.
