Firearm / Drug - Arrest: C21-272453

On November 21, 2021, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit entered into an investigation involving the illegal trafficking of firearms at a residence in the William Whyte neighbourhood.

Upon entering the residence, three adults were taken into custody, and five firearms were subsequently recovered, which included:

- a Winchester lever-action rifle
- a Browning semi-automatic rifle
- a semi-automatic rifle
- a Remington semi-automatic shotgun
- a crossbow
- various compatible types of ammunition

Kevin Joseph DESMARAIS, 38, of Winnipeg, was charged with 17 firearms-related charges and detained in custody.

Richard Dennis LUND, 38, of Winnipeg, was charged with 23 firearms-related charges and detained in custody.

A 50-year-old male of Winnipeg was charged with 11 firearms-related charges and detained in custody.

Firearm / Drug - Arrest: R21-62214

On November 19, 2021, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit entered into an investigation regarding an individual believed to be in possession of a firearm while operating a vehicle in the Booth neighbourhood. 

Officers located this vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Sturgeon Road. Two adults were taken into custody, and the following items were seized:

- a loaded Glock handgun
- a magazine containing compatible ammunition.
- Percocet pills (estimated street value of $420)
- 3.9 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $350)
- approximately $1,400 Canadian currency
- cell phones

Colin Jessie BERNARDIN HERBERT, 29, of Winnipeg, was charged with eleven firearm and drug-related offences and was detained in custody.

A 25-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing eight firearm and drug-related offences. She was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).

Firearm – Arrest: C21-272994

On November 22, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Central District General Patrol officers were patrolling in the Weston area and conducted a traffic stop for a taxicab in violation of the Highway Traffic Act.

An adult male passenger was identified and determined to have an outstanding warrant. He was taken into custody, and his property was retrieved from the taxi. A subsequent search revealed a sawed-off rifle, 21.5 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $800) and 1.1 grams of MDMA (estimated street value of $100).

Dennis Lawrence Russell SPENCE, 41, of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Transports Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device in a Careless Manner
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Scheduleduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance – MDMA
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- HTA offence
- Warrant Fail to Appear in Ident

He was detained in custody.
