Homicide – Investigation: C21-278427

On November 28, 2021, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to a call to check the wellbeing of an individual at an apartment in the 1000 block of Archibald Street. Once inside, officers located a severely injured adult male. He was conveyed to the hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Justin BELLINGER, 33, of Toronto, Ontario.

The investigation into this incident is continuing by the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Homicide – Investigation: C21-278721

On November 29, 2021, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to a report of gunshots at a single-family residence in the 200 block of Forrester Avenue. Officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Police administered emergency medical care until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

The victim has since succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Tyler Patrick YAREMA, 42, of Winnipeg.

The investigation into this incident is continuing by the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Note: Investigators do not believe that these two incidents are related.

Firearms – Arrests: C21-279468

On November 29, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., North District Patrol Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Alfred Avenue and Salter Street. The vehicle continued, eluding police until it got stuck in the 300 block of Burrows Avenue.

All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. A bolt-action rifle, a semi-automatic rifle, and compatible ammunition were seized.

Two adult males ages 18 and 24 have been charged with firearms and court order-related offences. They have been detained in custody.

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with firearms and court order-related offences. He has been detained in custody.

Drugs/Weapons – Arrests: C21-279416

On November 29, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., East District Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act infraction in the area of Edison Avenue and Henderson Highway.

A machete and drug packaging materials were observed within the vehicle. All occupants were taken into custody, and a subsequent search revealed 14.25 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,425.

Three adult males, ages 23, 21 and 19, are facing weapons and drug-related charges. They were all released on an Appearance Notice (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
