On December 13, 2021, around 10:15 p.m., an adult victim was struck by a bullet when shots were fired into their residence in the 600 block of Elgin Avenue.
Police arrived and provided emergency medical care to the victim. Paramedics transported the victim to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable condition.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over this investigation.

On December 13, 2021, at 12:57 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of College Avenue for a report of a severely injured female that had been found inside a residence.
Upon arrival, officers began to provide emergency medical care. The female was transported to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Flora Grey, a 41-year-old female of Winnipeg.
Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.
It is believed that the victim and a suspect (both previously known to each other) were involved in a dispute at the residence, which escalated to an assault.

On December 11, 2021, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report about a black SUV being chased and shot at by another vehicle. They were last seen travelling on St. Matthews Avenue and turning Southbound onto St. James Street.
Minutes later, residents of the Middlegate neighbourhood also reported hearing gunshots. After the shots were heard, they indicated that a black SUV had crashed.
Police arrived at Middlegate and located an abandoned black SUV still running with observable bullet holes. A nearby resident made a subsequent police report about bullets going through their home. No injuries were reported.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and believes the incidents are related.
