Commercial Plumbing / Mechanical Inspections

Commercial plumbing / mechanical inspections are regulated and enforced through the requirements of The Manitoba Plumbing Code for all types of buildings, including:
  • hospitals
  • apartments
  • meat packing facilities
  • office buildings
  • sport complexes
  • factories
  • restaurants
  • schools
  • industrial
  • retail shops

Note: The above building types and systems are not an extensive list of all the different systems and related construction types that fall within the duties and responsibilities of this section.

There are many important considerations when proceeding with a commercial plumbing / mechanical project. Prior to any new construction, demolition, addition or alteration to any part of a 'plumbing system', it is critical to ensure that a valid permit has been obtained prior to commencement of any work. If you are not sure that the proposed work requires a permit or other approvals, please contact us. (Refer to the map below for mechanical inspector contact information). Please also note that contractors that are licensed with the City of Winnipeg are allowed to perform Commercial Plumbing / Mechanical work within the City of Winnipeg's jurisdiction. The following systems are important to note as typical projects that would require permits and inspections:
  • potable water supplies & piping
  • drainage systems
  • venting systems
  • repair garages
  • swimming pools
  • storage garage exhaust
  • back-flow prevention
  • welding exhaust systems
  • roof drainage systems
  • environmental control systems
  • kitchen exhaust systems
  • sprinkler systems
  • stand pipe systems
  • fire pumps
  • paint spray booths
  • dust collection systems
  • acid dilution systems
  • hvac systems
  • fire dampers
