Residential Project Inspection

Inspections are an important part of the permit process

Obtaining a permit means that the work will need to be inspected by an experienced, professional City of Winnipeg Housing Inspector to ensure that the work complies with all applicable Codes, Standards and By-laws pertaining to structure, safety, plumbing and electrical work. This monitoring is carried out by means of the permit issuance process and periodic site inspections. The ultimate responsibility for compliance rests with you, the homeowner. You are required to call for an inspection upon completion of rough-in work and prior to covering with drywall, interior finishes or concrete slabs, as well as at final completion.

For additional information regarding mandatory inspections for various types of permits please see our Housing Permits Brochure.

Housing inspections can be booked by completing the Housing Inspection Request Form (preferred method) or by calling the Housing Inspections office at 204-986-5300 between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Please be aware that wait times vary for phone-in requests.
