On August 11, 2025, Central District Community Support Unit members arrested 33-year-old Ryan Nelson THOMAS following an investigation regarding several break-ins and thefts of property in the Windsor Park and South St. Vital neighbourhoods.
- On March 24, 2025, suspects forced entry into an apartment building in the 500 block of St. Anne’s Avenue and broke into the tenant mailboxes, causing $2,000 in damages. Tenant mail and three bicycles were also stolen from the basement parking garage.
- On March 24, 2025, suspects forced entry into two separate apartment buildings in the 200 block of Beliveau Road and broke into the tenant mailboxes and stole mail.
- On March 24, 2025, suspects forced entry into an apartment building in the 100 block of Worthington Avenue and broke into the tenant storage lockers, causing $1,600 in damages. An undetermined amount of property was stolen.
Through the investigation, a DNA sample was collected at one of the scenes and matched THOMAS’s profile on the Convicted Offender Index of the National DNA Data Bank.
On August 1, he was arrested on the strength of a DNA warrant and a blood sample was obtained. Through further investigation and DNA confirmation, THOMAS was linked as a suspect in the above-mentioned incidents.
THOMAS was arrested on August 11 by CSU members in the 300 block of Kennedy Street without incident. A pocket knife was found on his person and seized as evidence.
THOMAS is charged with four counts of Break & Enter, Possession of a Weapon, and Breach of Recognizance.
THOMAS was detained in custody.
