On February 2, 2022, at 12:02 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a care facility in the South Point Douglas area for a report of a carjacking.

An employee had just left when they were confronted at knifepoint by an individual that had been recently discharged from the building. The male demanded her keys and fled in her SUV.

At approximately 1:10 a.m., officers observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Main Street and Broadway. There were two occupants—a driver and a passenger that were seen switching seats—and the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

The SUV was pursued through the Downtown area, and at 1:16 a.m., the driver struck a cruiser car in the area of Kennedy Street and Ellice Avenue. The vehicle was stopped, and both occupants were safely taken into custody.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
