The Winnipeg Police Service is aware of a series of protests planned for this weekend.
Discussions with the organizers of these events continue. We strive to balance the right of everyone to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, as well as the rights of the general public, local residents and businesses to a safe environment.
The Winnipeg Police Service role is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace.
An operations plan has been developed, which includes the deployment of additional police resources in an effort to create a safe environment for all.
The Winnipeg Police Service has maintained a full-time presence in the area of the initial protest since February 4th. The number of officers will be bolstered this weekend to ensure that demonstrations remain peaceful and non-violent.
We ask everyone to be patient and respectful of each other.
