Residential Break-ins – Arrest: C20-45925
On March 24, 2020, detectives from the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit arrested a 32-year-old male and charged him in relation to 42 separate break-ins.
The break-ins occurred mostly in downtown Winnipeg between December 20, 2019, and February 29, 2020. In almost all of the incidents, the victims were home sleeping. The accused would steal debit and credit cards. He then used the tap feature at stores in the downtown area to make fraudulent purchases. During some of the incidents, the accused was scared off by residents while he was inside the home.
Nelson Amiral FERREIRA, 32, has been charged with:
- Break and Enter to a Dwelling House x 39
- Fraud Under $5,000 x 50
- Fail to Comply with Conditions x 12
- Assault Peace Officer
- Disarm Peace Officer
- Resist Arrest
- Possess Goods Obtained by Crime
Ferreira was detained in custody.
