Homicide – Update: C20-152669

As previously released:

Members of the Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.

On July 1, 2020, at approximately 3:15 a.m., an adult female and an adult male were walking in the block when they were both shot. The male, who had sustained a critical injury, was able to make his way to a nearby convenience store, and police were contacted.

Responding officers located the female deceased on the roadway of the 400 block of Flora Avenue. The male was transported to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Update:

The deceased has been identified as Danielle Dawn Cote, a 27-year-old female of Winnipeg.

Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C20-153508

On July 2, 2020, at 12:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of The Forks for a report of a male that had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located two injured adult males. One male was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound, and the other had been stabbed. Both victims were transported to hospital in unstable condition and have since been upgraded to stable condition.

It is believed that both victims were injured near the “WINNIPEG” sign and were able to make their way to The Forks Market building, at which time police were contacted.

Sexual Assault – Investigation: C20-152710

Members of the Sex Crimes Unit are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on Salter Avenue near Burrows Avenue on July 1, 2020.

At about 6:00 a.m., a 19-year-old female was walking in the area when she was approached by a male who engaged her in a conversation. The male then sexually assaulted her, and during the incident, took her to a secluded area where the sexual assault continued. The victim was able to flee, and police were contacted. She was subsequently transported to a hospital.

The suspect is described as a Black male, about 29 years old, 6’0” – 6’2” tall, with a skinny build and short braided hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, grey sweatpants and had tattoos on both forearms.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at either 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).


Missing Person – Noy Bounvongxay: C20-153816

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 36-year-old female, Noy Bounvongxay. She was last seen in the early hours of July 2, 2020, in the Southdale area of Winnipeg.

Noy is described as being 5’4” in height with a slim build and long brown hair with bangs.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for Noy’s well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Update on July 4, 2020:

Noy Bounvongxay has been located deceased. The death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
