565-569 Watt St. and 545 Watt St. Housing
We are working with developers to build affordable housing on priority City-owned properties.
545 Watt Street and 565-569 Watt Street are priority sites for affordable housing. Developers are building multi-family housing on these sites. At least 30 percent of the units will meet the City’s affordability criteria.
Community outreach and Meet & Greet
Thank you to those who attended the Meet and Greet on November 10, 2025 and those who have been in touch with the team. We appreciate your feedback and questions.

Subdivision and Rezoning
A public hearing was held on November 20, 2025 to decide on subdivision and rezoning the land. The current site is a Public Works yard and we requested to change it to multi-family housing and community support services.
The East Kildonan-Transcona Community Committee concurred in the recommendation of the Public Service to approve the subdivision and rezoning.
On December 18, 2025, Council also concurred with the recommendation to approve the subdivision and rezoning.
Next steps
In 2026, the developers will design the buildings and share plans with the community.
