On February 27, 2022, at 8:03 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers responded to a shelter in the South Point Douglas area for a report of a male inside the building threatening people with a knife.

While officers were en route, a second call was received stating that the male had attempted to stab an employee, and staff had him restrained on the ground. He was taken into custody soon after.

It is believed that the male had been attempting to use a drug substance when he was asked to leave and struck a staff member in the head (while holding a knife). He then unfolded the weapon and aggressively approached another staff member before being taken to the ground and disarmed.

Nathaniel Sean Capay, a 23-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Assault with a Weapon (x2)
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

He was detained in custody.
