Stabbing – Arrest: C22-43034

On March 1, 2022, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Central District officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to a stabbing at an apartment building in the 400 block of Kennedy Street. A concerned bystander found an injured male lying inside an elevator and contacted police.

Police located the victim (a male in his fifties) and provided emergency medical care. He was subsequently transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

A scene was discovered inside a suite, and police took an adult male into custody. The investigation was turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.

Carl George WESCOUPE, 39, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:

- Assault with a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
- Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2

He was detained in custody.
