Homicide – Arrest & Public Assistance Requested: C22-23528

The Homicide Unit has made an arrest and is seeking a second suspect in the homicide of Heather Marie Cheyane Beardy, a 26-year-old female of Winnipeg.

On February 2, 2022, at approximately 1:10 p.m., General Patrol officers responded to circumstances at an apartment block in the 400 block of Furby Street where they located Beardy deceased. Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.

On February 28, 2022, a suspect was placed under arrest. Amos Joe Kematch, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg, was charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.

Investigators are asking the public for their assistance with locating a second suspect, Leah Carol Clifton, a 34-year-old female of Winnipeg. She is now the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder.

Clifton is a white female, 5’6” tall and weighs approximately 140-150 lbs with a medium build. She has a tattoo with the words “RIP Dean” on the right side of her neck.

The public is cautioned not to approach Clifton. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call 911. Additional information that may assist investigators can be relayed to Homicide Unit investigators at 204-986-6508 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
