Update:

On March 16, 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit arrested a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg in relation to a shooting on October 4, 2021.

At the time of the incident, the accused and the victim (previously known to each other) were driving in a vehicle together down a back lane near McKenzie Street and Parr Avenue when the accused shot the victim in the face causing severe facial injuries. The accused fled on foot and the investigation continued by the Major Crimes Unit.

Through their investigation, the Major Crimes Unit identified a suspect, Jonathon GUNN, 29, of Winnipeg, already in custody on unrelated charges.

The Crown’s Office authorized a charge of Attempted Murder.

GUNN remained in custody at the Headingley Correctional Centre.

As previously released:

On October 4, 2021, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s North District officers responded to the report of a male who had been shot in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Parr Street.

Officers located an adult male outside who had been shot. They administered emergency first-aid until emergency personnel arrived.

The victim in his forties was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. The investigation led to a scene at McKenzie/Parr. No arrests have been made.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information to assist investigators is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
