In February 2022, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit began an investigation into the activities of a suspected cocaine trafficker.

On March 29, 2022, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and other officers, several search warrants were executed at a pair of residences – one in the 400 block of Richot Street and the other in the first 100 block of Lyra Gate.

A male suspect was taken into custody, and a number of items were seized (from him and the houses), including the following:

- A 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine
- 9mm ammunition
- 17 ounces of cocaine (estimated street value of $34,000)
- Cutting agent
- Approximately $20,000 in bundled cash
- Scales
- Mobile phones

A 23-year-old male of Winnipeg faces charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2)
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

He was released on an Appearance Notice and an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
