Carjacking – Arrest: C22-69617

On April 5, 2022, at approximately 12:37 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a carjacking at Polo Park Shopping Centre. The victim is employed as a security officer responsible for the shopping center and was operating a marked security vehicle during his patrol when the incident occurred.

The victim contacted police and advised that the lone suspect had jumped on the hood of his security vehicle while he was making his rounds of the premises. The suspect proceeded to enter the vehicle using the passenger door. The guard exited the running vehicle and attended to the passenger side of the vehicle in an attempt to remove the suspect. The suspect shoved the victim to the ground, mounted the vehicle’s driver’s side, and drove away. As the suspect fled the scene, the vehicle struck the victim’s arm, causing minor injury.

The vehicle was tracked using its GPS, and responding North District officers located the vehicle operated by the suspect in the North End of the city. Officers safely stopped the vehicle at McGregor Street and Mountain Avenue and placed the suspect in custody.

A 21-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance

She remains in police custody, with her disposition pending.
