On April 23, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a commercial break-in in progress occurring in the 300 block of Dufferin Avenue. A suspect was determined to still be on the premises.
North District General Patrol Officers, with the assistance of a K-9 Unit responded and located a lone suspect in the process of exiting the commercial building.
As he exited the building, the suspect placed stolen property and what was subsequently determined to be a loaded improvised firing device (commonly referred to as a ‘zip gun’) onto the ground. Officers safely arrested the lone suspect without incident.
A 31-year- old male of Winnipeg, is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Prohibited Device Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 3
- Possession of a Weapon
- Break, Enter & Theft (Place)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order
The accused remains in custody.
