Winnipeg, MB – At 6:48 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey house in the 500 block of Boyd Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. They launched a fire attack from the exterior as it was not safe to enter. Once some of the flames were knocked down, they transitioned to an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 8:13 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. One neighbouring house was temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
Anyone who sees someone actively entering a vacant building, or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, should call 911 to report the incident immediately.
