On March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., occupants of a vehicle traveling in the area of Sherbrook Street and Notre Dame Avenue were seen throwing garbage onto the street by individuals in a vehicle behind them. A 49-year-old female passenger who witnessed the incident yelled at the occupants for littering. In response, a 19-year-old female suspect exited the front vehicle, engaged in a verbal argument, and then returned to her vehicle.

Both vehicles continued west on Notre Dame Avenue, where the witnesses parked at a convenience store near Arlington Street. The female suspect exited her vehicle and began punching the 49-year-old’s window. A 50-year-old male attempted to intervene but was pushed to the ground and seriously assaulted by both the female suspect and a 19-year-old male suspect. The victim was treated by Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service for injuries to his upper body, and did not require transport to the hospital.

Central District General Patrol officers, who were in the area on an unrelated matter, witnessed the assault and arrested both suspects.

A 19-year-old female and a 19-year-old male from Winnipeg have been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

Both were released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
