Neighbourhood Action Teams

Neighbourhood Action Teams solve everyday maintenance issues in one fell swoop. That means no more crews driving past potholes to trim trees or picking up garbage but leaving fallen branches.

They also bridge the gap between communities and the public service with on-the-ground presence and a friendly face.

Our Neighbourhood Action Team crew members are hand-picked for their ability to engage with residents. They come to communities able to explain processes and procedures. And they’re ready to listen and respond.

What to expect

We have five seven-person neighbourhood action team crews. They will spend approximately four weeks in each ward twice from May to October 2026.

We’ve reviewed 311 requests and worked with each area councillor to determine the highest-needs area in each ward.

The teams will work through as many of these areas as possible before their two four-week stints are up.

They will tackle things like:

  • Potholes
  • Displaced sidewalks
  • Leaning and damaged signs
  • Debris
  • Hazardous tree branches
  • Uneven boulevard surfaces

These are the tasks that generate the most service requests through 311.

It’s important to note that you don’t need to call 311 to have the action team attend to an issue.

When we get to a street, we will fix everything within our scope – whether or not a service request exists for it. When we’re done, we will close all service requests related to our work within that area.

Teams will not be able to cover an entire ward within two four-week rounds. We focus on the worst of the worst and areas where our time can make the biggest impact.

Again, we identified these pockets based on 311 service requests, roadway surface data, and consultations with your area councillors.

What you can do

We’re the boots on the ground, but you’re the eyes and ears of your community.

You know your neighbourhood and its challenges better than anyone.

If you see us out and about in your neighbourhood, don’t hesitate to stop and chat. Let us know your thoughts on the program and give us the goods on your community.

We’ll put green signs up in each neighbourhood about a week before we arrive, focusing on streets where we will work. You can also spot us by our green City of Winnipeg shirts.
