On August 29, 2025, at 5:15 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers arrested a 40-year-old woman after she assaulted a woman on a sidewalk in the 200 block of Hargrave Street. The woman and the victim were previously unknown to one another.

At around 4:30 p.m., the woman approached the 50-year-old victim who was standing on the sidewalk and verbally confronted her. Without provocation, the argument escalated when the woman lit the wig the victim was wearing on fire using a portable butane torch. The victim quickly removed the wig from her head which prevented any injury. The woman began to walk away, but returned to physically assault the victim causing minor injury. The woman fled and police were contacted.

Shortly theraefter, attending officers located the woman nearby and placed her under arrest without incident.

The 40-year-old woman faces a charge of Assault with a Weapon and was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
