Proactive patrol by officers leads to arrest of man and woman - air pistol and drugs seized : C25-205251

On August 30, shortly before midnight, North District General Patrol officers conducting proactive patrols, approached a man and a woman standing next to a vehicle in a commercial parking lot in the 200 block of McGregor Street. As of note: businesses were closed due to the time of day in an area known for higher rates of both property and violent crime.

When officers approached the vehicle to speak with the pair, they observed a firearm in plain view inside the vehicle. Both were placed under arrest and the vehicle was searched. As a result of the search, officers seized the following:

  • Beretta-styled Air Pistol
  • Approximately 20 Grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $2,000)
  • Approximately 22 Grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $1,100)
  • Gabapentin Prescription Pills x 73 (Estimated Street Value: $220)
  • Cell Phone
  • Scale
  • $625 CAD

A 66-year-old man faces multiple trafficking-related, weapons-related, and proceeds of crime charges and was released on Undertakings.

A 44-year-old woman faces similar charges including a charge of failing to comply with her release order. In addition, she also faces a charge of mischief to property after damaging a door during the intake process at the police station.

She was detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
