In April 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service’s East District Community Support Unit began investigating multiple reports of drug trafficking and firearms at a residence in the Elmwood neighbourhood. Two adult men were identified as suspects.
On April 23, with assistance from East District General Patrol officers, Tactical Support and Drone Units, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence in the 1-99 block of Watt Street and arrested both men without incident.
As a result of the search warrant, the following property was seized as evidence:
- A loaded .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle (Prohibited Firearm) with 13 rounds of ammunition
- A loaded sawed-off .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle (Prohibited Firearm)
- A 50 round capacity .22 Calibre drum magazine
- A .22 calibre rifle
- 174 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $8,700)
- 50 grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value: $4,300)
- 4 grams Hydromorphone (Estimated Street Value: $100)
- Cell phones
- Drug packaging materials
- Milwaukee brand power tools (Estimated Value: $10,000)
- $1,725 CDN currency
Edward Dwayne McNABB (40) and Robert Jeffery McNABB (44) have been charged with multiple firearms, drug trafficking, possession of stolen property, and proceeds of crime offences.
Both were detained in custody.
The investigation stemmed from multiple reports from community members of concerned with local drug trafficking involving this Elmwood residence. In addition, the suspects and residence were directly attributed to a rash of recent drug overdoses in the community.
The WPS Community Support Units work to reduce and prevent criminal activity that affects our local neighbourhoods. By addressing concerns from citizens and businesses, Community Support Unit officers form relationships and aim to build safer communities through proactive action.
Citizens are encouraged to report suspected drug activity to the Winnipeg Police Service. These reports are be followed up by Community Support Units and thoroughly investigated.
