Winnipeg, MB - The major rehabilitation of Pembina Highway from Osborne Street to Grant Avenue is now underway. This $11.7 million project includes rehabilitating Pembina Highway travel lanes and sidewalks, and also includes the addition of buffered bike lanes between Arbuthnot Street (just south of Grant Avenue) and Osborne Street. Portions of Corydon Avenue and McMillan Avenue will be rehabilitated as well.

“This project will lead to a smoother ride for motorists as well as increased safety for cyclists with the addition of a buffered bike lane and new, improved sidewalks for pedestrians”, says Lester Deane, Director of Public Works. “The City will work to mitigate construction impacts as much as possible and we appreciate residents’ patience while we make improvements to Pembina Highway.”

The southbound median lane on Pembina Highway, from Osborne Street to Grant Avenue is now closed to traffic.

Construction will take place over a period of two years. Southbound Pembina Highway construction will continue until October 2016.

Northbound construction on Pembina Highway from Grant Avenue to Osborne Street will take place in 2017.
