Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service hosts Fire Prevention Week, October 7 to 13

Winnipeg, MB – Fire Prevention Week 2018 is being held across Canada from October 7 to 13. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) is working with its partners to provide educational activities that highlight the importance of fire prevention in our communities. The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”

Canadian Tire Events
WFPS firefighters will team up with Canadian Tire to promote the importance of smoke alarms and other fire life safety equipment by making public appearances at Canadian Tire stores around the city. Firefighters will be available to chat with the public about how to test smoke alarms and where to install them in a residence.

Fire Drills for Schools
Schools across Winnipeg will take part in fire drills, promoting fire safety and providing tips on fire prevention to students.

Fire Paramedic Station Open House
All Winnipeg fire paramedic stations will invite the public in for an open house. Kids can enter a contest to become Fire Paramedic Chief for the Day.
When: Saturday, October 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: All WFPS fire paramedic stations
